Young Adult Ministry

Young Adults at the Kirk are people in their twenties and thirties, some single, some married, some with children.

There is a place at our table for everyone!

Each one of us is seeking something, and each one of us finds that “something” in a unique way! We are 20/ 30 somethings who desire to talk about life and how our faith practices relate & help us in our search. How can we faithfully respond to the many situations we come across in our day to day activities? How can we faithfully respond to current events in the world? This is different for every person, and it is through those differences that we can grow and learn to see the world in a new way.

We are a group of people asking and searching, finding and discerning, and repeating it all over again. We come from different traditions and backgrounds, but are all beautifully flawed children of God. We don’t tell anyone that they are wrong, but instead we listen and value each person’s thoughts and beliefs. We don’t say that anyone is right, but instead we honor our differences recognizing that we don’t know WHO is right if any one person even is. We listen. We talk. We open our hearts and ears for something that just might change us in a small or great way.

Faith, Study, and Discernment Opportunities

Sunday School Returning in September 2019! Each week, we will dive deeper into the lectionary texts for the day using “Feasting on the Word” curriculum. We meet in C204 in the Classroom Building.

Bible Study — Returning in September 2019! We will work our way through C. S. Lewis’ classic, “The Chronicles of Narnia” as we look at how it connects with our faith and world today. The study will be available both at Kirk of Kildaire and at a home in Durham! Times TBD.

Devout Stout– First Thursday of every month, 7pm @ Buffalo Brothers (Saltbox Village) How does your faith lead you to respond to current events? How are others understanding and responding through their own faith? Each month, we talk about what is on our mind and in the news, and how we are challenged to respond as faithful Christians.

Service Projects

Part of discerning our faith is ENACTING our faith. We regularly serve around our community in a variety of ways. Watch the Kirk newsletter and our Facebook page for upcoming opportunities!

Fellowship Opportunities

We have successfully escaped, cheered on sports teams, and shown our level of trivial knowledge as we gather for fellowship. Watch the Kirk newsletter and our Facebook page for upcoming fellowship events!

Watch posts on social media and newsletters for more information on all of our activities.
