Contemporary Worship at the Kirk

The Worship Committee at the Kirk of Kildaire began exploring the idea of Contemporary Worship several years ago.  We looked at the desire of Kirk youth to participate in worship services other than the annual Youth Sunday service.  We also gathered a diverse group of talented Kirk musicians and explored various styles of Contemporary Worship.  A sub-committee was formed.  Visits were made to other local churches to experience Contemporary Worship.  During this time the committee researched various styles and purposes of Contemporary Worship.

In the Spring of 2001 the Session approved Contemporary Worship Services at the Kirk.  Our first service was held in September.  For the next two years we held monthly evening services that had average attendance of 100.  There was a mixture of youth and adult involvement during the services and in the Praise Band that provided music.

The Kirk has currently suspended the Sunday evening Contemporary Worship Services as we explore incorporating aspects of Contemporary Worship into our regular 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services.  We continue to discern what role Contemporary Worship will play in the worship life of the Kirk of Kildaire.
