Welcome to Faith Quest

Resurrection – Matthew’s Account

April 20 – May 18

Jesus Christ has risen!  And with the risen Jesus Christ, we have new life.  We all make mistakes and do things we shouldn't.  But Jesus loves us, even when we are not good.

Jesus died to save us from our sins.  And he rose to give us new life with Him.  The early Christians found that when they gathered to worship God, that Jesus was still guiding them to be more kind.  They, and we, find hope for ourselves because Jesus, God with us, is a work in the world teaching us to be more kind.

Our memory verse is Matthew 28:19-20

"Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples.  Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to do everything I have told you.  I will be with you always, even until the end of the world."  (CEV)

What we will learn:

§        God raised Jesus from the dead.

§        The risen Jesus rules over heaven and earth.

§        Disciples believe that Jesus was crucified and then raised from the dead.

§        Even disciples sometimes doubt.

§        Jesus Christ is always present with us and with his church.

§        Jesus tells us to teach others how to be his disciples.

In Holywood, watch a Resurrection video and mirror the image of Jesus.

Family Time and Prayer:

Read:  Matthew 28 (entire chapter)

Reflection:  Jesus taught us many things.  Jesus told us that God's love is for everyone.  And we are to love all people, even those we have a hard time loving.  Jesus taught us to forgive those who do bad things to us.  Jesus taught us to help the poor and sick, and to be kind to everyone.  Jesus wants us to do what we say we will do. Easter is the day we celebrate God's victory, through Jesus, over sin, hate, and death. It is a joyful time.

Prayer:  Dear God, thank you for the gift of your son, so that we may know how to be more like you and be with you always.  Amen.

Offering:  Your offering will go to the Presbyterian Pentecost Offering that helps support ministries to children, youth and young adults.  It helps children in need, and programs that nurture the faith and Christian lifestyle of youth, and mission service of young adult volunteers and interns. Please bring your offering to the jar in the Great Hall.
