They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to
fellowship, to breaking of bread and to prayer. A sense of awe was everywhere
and many marvels and signs were brought about through the apostles . .
. and day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
Acts 2:42-47

Fellowship, Bible study, and spiritual growth in a
small-group setting.
What are Koinonia Groups?
Koinonia is a Greek word meaning an intimate partnership with Jesus
Christ and with others. Koinonia Groups are small home Bible study
groups of six to ten people. As the members of these groups study Gods
word and consider its implications for their lives, they experience life
in a community of believers. They begin to experience a sense of partnership
with others in the group and with Christ. They begin to experience Koinonia
as a gift from God implemented by the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Caring and support, celebration and socializing
Because the group meets twice a month, members establish loving relationships
where the members pray for each other and support each other through difficult
times.
K-Groups often also socialize and share major events in their lives.
Whats a K-Group meeting like?
Groups make a commitment about when, how often, and how long they will
meet, generally twice a month for about two hours.
Typically meetings begin with a short social time during which simple
refreshments are served. The group then checks in with everyone and they
share what is going on in their lives. A short business meeting follows
to decide such things as who is going to host the next meeting, and who
is going to lead the next lesson. Following a short prayer asking for
the presence of the Holy Spirit, the Bible study begins using a study
guide chosen from a list of studies made available by the church.
The study guide leads the group through sharing questions that pay particular
attention to the application of the Lords word to the members
daily walk. During these discussions, it is common to hear Gods
word in the words of the group. As people tell of their individual experiences,
they provide a different understanding than individuals may have gained
through their own study. The meeting ends with the members sharing personal
concerns and bringing them to God in prayer.
How do I get into a K-Group?
Contact John Dreese or the church office.
The K-Group Committee will link you with other interested members. Or,
if you already have friends with whom you would like to form a group,
submit all the names at once.
The K-Group Committee will assign trained enablers to help your group
through six experiential K-Group meetings.
At the end of those six meetings, the group decides whether it wishes
to continue or not. If the group decides to continue, it will choose a
new study and commit to meeting for the number of sessions required to
complete that study.
By committing to study after study, the group continues to meet as long
as it wishes.
