Nancy's Notes

We are quickly approaching Thanksgiving and with that I want to offer my appreciation for the many, many adults who make youth ministry at the Kirk possible. I realize that when listing names, it is easy to leave someone out. If I do so, please let me know, but more importantly know that your work is appreciated and known to God and to the youth, even if not listed here!

Adult elders for youth are Dewey Cassell and Lynn Godwin. Dewey completes his term on Session at the end of December and I am grateful for his three years of dedicated service and faithful leadership. Lynn will serve another year and we will welcome a new adult elder in January.

Middle school youth group advisors are: Barry Harmon, Joan Humphreys, Jane McNeill, Vince Rash, Kate Wells, Dona Woodard, and Rich Woynicz. High school advisors are: Ann Branch, Doug and Judi Nagy, Jack and Robin Shannon, Allison Stafford, and Harlan Stafford. The youth group planning team is: Stephanie Bynum, Jo Nygard, Lauren Porter, Allison Stafford, and Amy Woynicz. Youth meal coordinators are Sandra Clark and Mary Hall. Many parents of youth serve on meal teams to prepare and serve Sunday night meals. All these folks make Sunday night youth group possible.

Joel Huenemann has served as high school Sunday school teacher for many years and his faith inspires many youth. I am grateful for his continuing service. The Faith Challenge staff includes: Howard Brown, Kathy Carmer, Dewey Cassell, Lisa Clark, Allison Connors, Terri Fleming, Kay Guyton, Barry Harmon, Joan Humphreys, John Leonard, Gino and Ruth Menechella, Vince Rash, Phil Saunders, David Snow, Karen Stancil, Melinda Thompson, Carol Wells, Mai Wickelgren, Dona Woodard, and Amy Woynicz.

Confirmation is headed by Associate Pastor Stephanie Arnold and Edla Prevette. Each confirmand is mentored by an adult in the congregation and these are: Nathan Bigger, Doug and Hope Brown, Sue Bunning, Linda Bruggers, Doug Burton, Stephanie Bynum, Mary Droessler, Mary Helen Earle, Dave Earley, Pete Gaucher, Lynn Godwin, Barry Harmon, Annette Homiller, Jennifer Leonard, Judi Nagy, Melanie Rankin, Phil Saunders, David Snow, Karen Stancil, Pattie Stephenson, Bill Stokes, and Kate Wells.

As you can see, it takes many hands and hearts to help our youth grow in faith. I am so appreciative of all that these adults share of themselves and of their love of God. Thank you!
