Mary Kay's Cary Days
October 11, 2007
Dear friends at the Kirk,
This coming Sunday morning will be somewhat of an intergenerational
music day in worship with our chancel filled with children, teens
and adults! Chancel Choir (11:00) will be singing an arrangement
for organ, trumpet and voices of the hymn "How Firm a Foundation".
Thanks to Barbara Moore for her joyful trumpet work! The Chancel
Ringers (8:45) are offering a selection entitled "Canticle
of Faith" which has some interesting bell techniques to hear
and to see. The Joyful Ringers (11:00) will open our worship with
"The Heavens are Declaring". This is the first appearance
this fall for these young ringers.
Two young pianists are offering their gifts in worship this week.
Both are Kirk members. Ashley Parks will play pre-service music,
and selections in worship at the early service. She is home from
Washington, DC for the weekend and is the daughter of Rusty and
Carol Parks. Dylan Giles, a high school senior is playing during
the 11:00 service. Dylan is the son of Steve and Cindi Giles. They
are playing selections by Brahms, Rossini, Alexander and Schumann.
The Piano Task Force (PTF) is busy working on various fundraising
efforts. This Sunday, Marietjie Wessels, PTF chairperson, will share
an update. Mark your calendars for Dinner and a Grand! on November
1 at the Kirk. See further details later in the Krier.
Making music in His name,
Mary Kay
