Nancy's Notes
September 27, 2007
Youth ministry for fall is off to a great start! Attendance on
Sunday mornings in Faith Challenge, confirmation, and the high school
class has been fantastic. If your youth has not attended yet, I
encourage them to do so. The teachers and curriculum are dynamic
and engaging with the goal of helping youth mature in faith.
Fifty-six youth and adults visited Camp Chestnut Ridge last weekend
for the annual youth fall retreat. The theme was Growing with God
and Sunday night youth group will continue this theme throughout
the year. I am grateful for the adults that spent their weekend
with our youth and for the continued dedication of all youth advisors.
Youth group calendars are available in the youth kiosk in the narthex.
Please take one. We always have room for more youth on Sunday nights.
The State Fair parking lot is coming soon- - October 12-21! This
great fundraiser organized by the hard work of Harlan Stafford provides
about half the overall budget for youth ministry. It requires many
hands and feet. Please sign-up in the narthex if you have not done
so.
It is already time to plan for next summer's activities! We should
know our week for Appalachia Service Project in October and begin
taking deposits. Although we will not know our Montreat week until
February, we must send in an approximate number attending by December
1. Our first choice for the High School youth conference is July
13-19 and second is July 6-12. Massanatta Springs Middle School
Conference is a fabulous event for current 6th, 7th and 8th graders
and we plan to attend June 19-22.
And last, but certainly not least, I request your prayers for all
the youth and adults in youth ministry. We need God to guide and
uphold us, and your prayers certainly help. Thank you.
