Mary Kay's Cary Days
September 27, 2007
Dear Kirk friends,
Thanks to so many of you who continue to support our branches of
music ministry here at the Kirk! Do you know that old rocker song
Wake Me When September Ends by Green Day? Well, it has
been a busy, but very satisfying month, thanks to you!
Psalm 150, our acoustic ensemble, will offer musical selections
at the early service this Sunday. They have written a selection
based on the scripture text of the day, which they will sing for
the first time this week! The handbell ensembles Chancel
Ringers and Coventry Ringers will offer special selections
at the late service. We have a special acoustic treat for you at
the beginning of worship! Amanda Decker will also be singing at
the 11:00 service a lovely setting of On Eagles Wings.
We are fortunate to have young singers so willing to share their
gifts in worship.
I would like to give you an update on the work of the Piano Task
Force. As you know, we prepared a brochure to answer many anticipated
questions for this sanctuary piano project, but there are always
more. In order to keep the conversations flowing, we will try to
briefly address them in the bulletin each Sunday beginning this
week.
We appreciate the many monetary gifts already received and ask
that you continue to prayerfully consider how you may help us keep
this wonderful instrument for the Kirk. The Piano Task Force and
friends worked the parking lot at the NC State Football game last
Saturday and will do another one in November. We will be happy to
have more help!
A fundraiser event will take place on Thursday, November 1. We
invite you to a dinner and evening of entertainment here at the
church! Mike Reams (Kirk member and proprietor of Carrabas Restaurant
in Cary) has graciously offered to provide a great dinner featuring
chicken marsala to begin serving at 6:00 p.m. Tony Thompson (Raleigh
jazz pianist) and his jazz trio will provide music in the sanctuary
at 7:30 p.m. Both gentleman have offered to raise funds for the
Fazioli grand piano. Dinner reservations are necessary as Mikes
staff will prepare the food fresh here that evening. There is also
take-out available. Cost is $20 for dinner and music, $10 for take-out
food and $15 for concert tickets at the door. For more information,
check out the Krier and flyers in the church and around town. We
hope that you will come out and enjoy an evening of fellowship and
great music!
Bless you for whatever gifts you offer to our ministry as every
one counts!
Peace,
Mary Kay
