Pastor on Call * * * * * * * * * * * * Worship Sunday, January 14, 2007 Scripture: Sermon: * * * * * * * * * * * * Attendance Sunday, January 7: * * * * * * * * * * * * Pennies for Hunger: * * * * * * * * * * * * Nancy's NotesIdeas, feedback, complaints, hopes, comments, suggestions whatever you call it, I'd like to hear from you. Without hearing from youth, parents, and others in the congregation it is difficult to know "how it's going." Was Sunday school fun, boring, meaningful, or helpful? If so, let me know. Was youth group the best thing you've attended in weeks or the worst program ever? We need to know. Have you visited another church and they had a great idea? Share it! If you're a parent, what is your youth saying at home? Do you have an idea that would help your youth grow in faith? What's good, what's not so good about youth ministry at the Kirk? I'd love to have an e-mail box full of feedback or a voice mailbox full of ideas. Stop me on Sunday mornings, send a note, or stop by the church office. I want to hear from youth and adults. My e-mail address is nancystokes@nc.rr.com and the church phone number is 467-4944. Without your thoughts and ideas, it is very difficult to grow, change, and improve. In this New Year, help me, the elders, and all the leaders in youth ministry make the Kirk youth program vital and meaningful. Thanks! Nancy [contents] |

Thinking about joining the Kirk or just want to learn more? Then consider becoming part of our next Exploring the Kirk Class. We'll talk about the Christian life, both in this congregation and in the Presbyterian (USA) denomination, and ministry opportunities available to us. It will be a great opportunity to meet other visitors and Kirk members, as well as a wonderful way to begin to discover different ways God might be calling you to participate in the life of this church. The next Exploring the Kirk Class will meet in two parts on Sunday afternoons (February 4 and 11) from 3:00 - 6:00. This class is a prerequisite for membership at the Kirk. Please contact the church office (467-4944, kirkofkildaire@nc.rr.com) by Monday, January 29, to register or to request childcare. For more information, contact Cathy Church Norman (467-4944). Youth Group January 14 High school: 6 p.m. at Stephanie Bynum's home, 102 Chalon Drive,
Cary for pizza and a movie.
We still need two more homes to host middle schoolers and one more home to host high school youth for appetizers or the main dish on Sunday, January 21. Contact Nancy Stokes to volunteer.
Are you a 10th-12th grader? Do you believe in Jesus? Want to have fun? If you answered "yes," there's an opportunity for you. Massanetta Springs Middle School Conference needs high school youth to serve as "enablers" for two weeks this summer. Some Kirk youth who have done this before say it is one of the most meaningful things they have ever done. Get an application and more information at http://www.massanettasprings.org and click on Youth Enabler Application at the bottom of the page. Applications are due Tuesday, January 16, so respond now.
Plans have changed: Last week's Krier reported the youth would not attend as a group; however, all youth are invited to the Sunday afternoon matinee, February 25. Total ticket cost is $30; youth will pay $15 and parking lot profits will pay $15. You must register by January 21. Details and sign-up sheets are in the youth kiosk in the narthex.
