Confirmation Class 2007 - 2008

(Grade 8 and above)

Goals for Confirmation Class

Upon successful completion of the Confirmation Class, youth will be prepared to:

 

Take next steps on their faith journeys.

 

Be baptized or confirm their baptismal vows.

 

Declare their Christian faith.

 

Accept commissioning to faithful church membership.

 

According to the Presbyterian Church (USA)  Book of Order (G-5.0102)

"A faithful member accepts Christ's call to be involved responsibly in the ministry of his Church.  Such involvement includes:

 

a.

proclaiming the good news,

 

b.

taking part in the common life and worship of a particular church,

 

c.

praying and studying Scripture and the faith of the Christian Church,

 

d.

supporting the work of the church through the gifts of money, time, and talents,

 

e.

participating in the governing responsibilities of the church,

 

f.

demonstrating a new quality of life within and through the church,

 

g.

responding to God's activity in the world through service to others,

 

h.

living responsibly in the personal, family, vocational, political, cultural, and social relationships of life,

 

i.

working in the world for peace, justice, freedom, and human fulfillment."

Youth, eighth through twelfth grade, may participate in the Confirmation Class. 

The Class meets during the Sunday school time, 9:45 - 10:45 am,
from August 26, 2007, through May 18, 2008. 

In addition to the Sunday morning classes, confirmands participate in service projects, retreats and field trips; they complete assignments related to the goals of the class; and they develop a one-on-one relationship with an adult mentor from the congregation.
